Raja Nichola Meets US Religious Freedoms Delegation

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Raja Nichola, received Wednesday at the Republican Palace a visiting American delegation of the Religious Freedom, headed by the former ambassador of religious freedom at the US State Department, Sam Brown.

The meeting discussed the reality of religious freedom in the country and the positive developments it witnessed after the December revolution, in addition to the status of various religious institutions and the procedures for their establishment and registration.

In a press statement, Sam Brown, who chaired the International Summit on Religious Freedoms in New York in the year 2020, has praised great developments in the field of religious freedom and the respect for human rights in Sudan, pointing to the equal participation of people of different beliefs in state institutions.

He said that Sudan can be a pioneering model for the coexistence between religions and beliefs in the region.

He indicated that his visit to Sudan aims to encourage continued respect for human rights, especially religious freedoms, expressing his happiness over the positive developments that have taken place in the field of respect for human rights and religious freedoms in Sudan.

He described his meeting with Sovereignty Council member, Raja Nikola, as fruitful and constructive.
