Prime Minister addresses deliberative meeting on economic reform

Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk has affirmed that Sudan is qualified, with its great potentials, to be an economic lever for all the countries of the region around it.

Dr. Hamdouk, who was speaking at the “Deliberative Meeting on the Economic Reform Program,” which was held today in the Grand Hotel here, said that the state must confront urgent issues and not resort to postponing confrontation processes that lead to inaction.

He pointed out that the peacefulness of the glorious December Revolution that won admiration of the world, constituted the pillar around which many positive results revolved, including that Sudan is the first country that was able to complete in just six months the issue of the debt relief agreement through the HIPC agreement, which no country has preceded before.

The Prime Minister stressed that the government is working seriously to achieve its tripartite program to achieve peace, reform the economic situation and complete the transitional period.

He noted that the state seeks to achieve the macroeconomic program through a process of intertwined economic reforms, starting with the stabilization of the exchange rate that was achieved as a result of integrated economic policies to address exchange rate imbalances, and reforming the banking system through adoption of the policy of the two windows for the banking transactions.

Dr. Hamdouk called on all to sit down and agree on issues, urging the conferees to come up with innovative and specific recommendations that can be implemented.
