Large Anti-Government Demonstrations Staged in Khartoum

Khartoum,   (SUNA) – Thousands of citizens participated Saturday in the demonstration called for by political forces that announced the return to the foundation platform of the Freedom and Change, under the name of the Forces of Freedom and Change – the National Charter, which is a group opposed to the Forces of Freedom and Change which is considered the political incubator for the government of Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk.

Supporters of the parties and armed struggle movements that announced earlier their intention to sign a national charter and the return to the founding platform have participated in the demonstrations in front of the Republican Palace, along with native administrations, Sufi sects and representatives of some tribes.

The demonstrators raised banners and chanted slogans calling for the completion of government institutions, the return of trade unions, and a comprehensive reform that includes all state institutions.

Sources told SUNA that a number of addresses will take place in the program later today, while the signing of the National Charter of the political forces was not confirmed on Saturday.

The demonstrators gathered in the streets of the center of the capital, Khartoum, and it was noticed that big numbers of buses had brought demonstrators from the outskirts of the capital and some states.

The demonstrations were characterized by organization and peacefulness.

The observers also noticed that the streets in central Khartoum area were free of the road-blocks that the security and police forces usually put in these streets during the numerous demonstrations that Khartoum witnessed before.
