Foreign Minister Meets with Russian Businessmen

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, has held a session of talks at the headquarters of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in which President of the Chamber, Sergey Nikolayevich, and a big number of Russian businessmen and investors interested in working in Sudan have participated.

The minister referred to the old and extended history of the bilateral relations between the two countries, and affirmed the transitional government’s keenness to cooperate with Russian in all fields.

She also pointed to the importance of holding the seventh session of the Sudanese-Russian ministerial committee for trade and economic cooperation.

She provided a briefing on the latest developments in Sudan, including the peace process, and reassured Russian investors on the stability of the security situation in the country.

Dr. Mariam referred to the government’s work to create an investment climate, especially after Sudan returned to the global banking system and amended its Investment Law.

She also pointed out that there is a list of projects prepared in Sudan for investment in the fields of infrastructures, energy, industry, agriculture and mining.

The Minister heard briefings on the experiences of Russian businessmen in investing in Sudan, who confirmed their desire to continue working on existing and proposed projects in various fields.
