Foreign Minister and her Lebanese Counterpart Discuss Issue of Sudanese Citizens in Lebanon

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, Wednesday met with her Lebanese counterpart, Zeina Akkar, on the sidelines of her participation in the Conference of the Arab Foreign Ministers I Doha.

The meeting has discussed progress of the relations between Sudan and Lebanon and ways of consolidating them.

 

Dr. Mariam affirmed Sudan keenness to strengthen further its relations with Lebanon, pointing to the similarities in the challenges facing the two countries, such as the management of diversity.

The meeting touched on the issue of the Sudanese citizens in Lebanon and the importance of overcoming obstacles to facilitate their voluntary return.

Dr. Mariam gave a briefing on the political situation in Sudan and informed the Lebanese Foreign Minister on the latest developments related to the issue of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam, stressing the need to reach a binding legal agreement on the filling and operation of the dam.

The Lebanese minister announced her full support to the positions of Sudan and Egypt regarding the issue of the Renaissance Dam.
