FM Chairs IGAD Ministerial Meeting

Foreign Minister, Dr. Mariam Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi chaired, Thursday, the video conference meeting of the Emergency IGAD member-states Ministerial meeting.

The meeting discussed the challenges facing the Peace Agreement of the Republic of South Sudan State, supporting the political transition in Somalia, the regional response to COVID-19 pandemic, besides the Initiative for the Sustainable Solutions to Displacement Issues in Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan.

The minister addressing the meeting, lauded the progress achieved in the implementation of the South Sudan Peace Agreement, calling for exerting more efforts concerning the graduation and the re-deployment of the Unified Forces, besides the employment of the commissions and the mechanisms and the other recommendations included in the agreement.

Dr. Mariam called on the international community South Sudan Peace Agreement in all fields, affirming that Sudan looks forward to scale up its relations with the Republic of South Sudan to strategic partnership in all domains.
