AG forms investigation committee in killing of martyr Wad-Akar

Acting Attorney General (AG) Hon. Mubarak Mahmoud Osman, yesterday issued a decision forming an investigation committee in the killing of martyr Mohamed Ismail Abaker, aka Wad-Akar.

The decision specified the terms of reference and powers of the committee to investigate the killing of the martyr, collect evidence related to the incident, the circumstances of the crime, review the procedures of the criminal report, continue the investigation procedures in accordance with the law, take testimonies from all parties, assess evidence and refer the report to court and representation of the prosecution.

The decision also granted the committee the powers of the Public Prosecution office stipulated in the Public Prosecution Act, 2017 and the Criminal Procedure Law, 1991.

The decision specified that the committee shall submit its recommendations to the Attorney General within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of commencement of its work.
